Amis/ Ennemis. Mansfeld et le revers de la médaille
Categories:
The exhibition assembled with the help of privileged loans from the Royal Library
of Belgium, is directly related to the 500th anniversary of the renaissance prince
Pierre-Ernest de Mansfeld (1517-1604). The governor of the Duchy of
Luxembourg lived in Luxembourg in his magnificent residence in Clausen as well
as at the Spanish court in Brussels where he rubbed shoulders (mixed) with
dignitaries, noblemen, humanists. Thus a genuine social fabric was created which
is reflected by the precious miniature portraits created by the famous medal
engraver Jacques Jonghelinck (1530-1606).
